Student Spotlight

Bailee Armold ‘22

Student, 3-Year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program

After a medical mistake led to her grandfather’s spiraling poor health and premature death, Bailee Armold ’22 was inspired to pursue a career in health care.  “I want to help others and to take my time to ensure my patients are safe and well cared for,” she shares. Bailee is enrolled in our three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and plans to continue her education further toward her goal of becoming either a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist (CRNA), “I recently shadowed a CRNA and loved it; however, I also love the patient-provider bonds that develop as a nurse practitioner,” Bailee explains.  She completed her internship the emergency department at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital where she developed a deep interest critical care. “I was allowed to watch traumas and take part in critical situations. It was an amazing experience. I had my own patients that I was independently responsible for from the point they entered the emergency department until they were either discharged or admitted to the hospital,” shares Bailee.

Bailee works part time while attending PA College. As a student nurse patient care assistant at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, she is part of the supplemental staff which is sent to a different unit every shift or even more frequently to help in low-staffed areas.  “Throughout the pandemic, I have been mesmerized by the selflessness of healthcare workers. As my coworkers and I spent long shifts caring for those effected by the virus I knew that this is where I belong.”

Originally from Columbia, PA, Bailee now lives in Marietta. She is a new aunt to an adorable baby boy and a “dog mom” to her two-year-old blue heeler mix. Bailee has also recently become engaged and hopes to plan her wedding for the fall after her graduation.  Reflecting on all that she’s accomplished at PA College so far, Bailee notes: “I am nearly finished and it is rewarding to start to see the end of the path!”
