Student Spotlight

Arron Whittington ’20 ’23, RCES, RCIS, RCS, CCT

Student,  Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program

Arron Whittington started his PA College education during his thirteen years of service as a U.S. Navy Corpsman, graduating from our Cardiac Electrophysiology program in 2020.  As an aerospace medicine technician aboard the USS Carl Vinson, he deployed to South America and the Western Pacific. Later, Arron was the medical professional for the aviation squadron VQ-7 “Roughnecks” in Oklahoma City and also served as a Cardiac Cath Lab manager for several years. While Arron separated from active duty in October 2020, he remains active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and mentors youth as a volunteer with the U.S. Navy Sea Cadets.

Now enrolled in our Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program (studying online from his home in Newnan, Georgia), Arron says of his decision to twice enroll in PA College: “I feel it is important to be trained by the best, and the quality of students we are introducing into the medical field is top notch. My courses are so varied in how the materials are presented and how students can interact with each other. There are so many tools available to ensure our overall success.”  Eager to take his career to the next level, Arron knows that his work will change lives. “The ability to successfully terminate lethal and persistent cardiac arrhythmias to better a patient’s overall quality of life is something that is so rewarding,” he notes. “The Electrophysiology technology is now more innovative than ever, introducing neuromodulation to completely aid in advanced heart failure patients.”

Especially as a single dad, Arron says that time management is key to achieving educational and professional growth and balance his life. In his free time, Arron enjoys participating in CrossFit and monthly challenges from the GoRuck Foundation – design for physical and mental betterment, as well as encouraging comradery for veterans and awareness of the sacrifices of fallen service members, past and present.
