Melissa J. Snyder D.Ed, FNP, CNE

Assistant Dean, Division of Nursing

Biography

Dr. Snyder's clinical background has focused on child and adolescent health and well being as a staff nurse in the acute care settings of the pediatric intensive care unit and pediatric oncology units and as a family nurse practitioner in pediatric and adolescent primary care. Much of her clinical experience took place in the Geisinger Health System. After over 15 years of clinical practice, Dr. Snyder transitioned from her clinician role to that of a nurse educator with full time faculty positions teaching undergraduate and graduate students at Thomas Jefferson University, Bloomsburg University, and Penn State University. An interest in higher education administration led to positions of Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the Penn State College of Nursing, Associate Dean of the School of Nursing at Eastern University, and her current role as Assistant Dean of Nursing at PA College.

Dr. Snyder is an active member of state and national nursing organizations, and enjoys networking and collaborating with colleagues in clinical practice and education. Her research interests include transitioning from clinician to educator in the health professions, leadership development, and student success initiatives.

Though Dr. Snyder loves her career, she can always find time for family, friends, gardening, cooking, and travel.
