Biography
I have been serving childbearing people for over 25 years. Before becoming a nurse, I was a volunteer breastfeeding counselor, a birth doula, and a breastfeeding educator. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I became a Nurse Birth Attendant in a free-standing birth center in Berks county. Next, I worked for WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA -- first as a staff nurse in maternity, then as a Clinical Educator for obstetrics and pediatrics, and finally as a nursing Professional Development Specialist. During my WellSpan years, I was also an adjunct clinical instructor for Alvernia University, and I earned my Master of Science in Nursing - Education. I joined the PA College nursing faculty in October of 2019. I love a good cup of tea and always have a few tea bags in my purse. Forget the crumpets, though; I prefer chips and guac. One of my favorite forms of exercise is riding my bicycle. I completed my first half-century (50 mile) ride in the summer of 2020. Granted, it was on a rail-to-trail, (no major hills), but it felt like a big accomplishment to me!Registrations/Certifications
