Nursing Faculty-Undergraduate program

Biography

I began my nursing career as a nursing assistant while attending college which allowed me to see what is was like to be a Registered Nurse. During this time, I took a part time job as a medical transcriptionist at a doctor's office to gain more insight about the medical field. When I graduated college, I worked on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit at a hospital for about 10 years. I was able to develop my role as a nurse and have a solid foundation of knowledge that I learned along the way to help me later on transition to other career choices. My next move was working at an Ambulatory Surgery Center for Pain Management. I was given new learning opportunities over the course of 8 years. Then I took teaching job at a community college working with undergraduate nursing students. I have been doing this type of work for the past 6 years. I have experience in the simulation lab where students learn and practice their skills in a safe environment. I help oversee students at clinical who are given an opportunity to put their skills into action and learn how to handle various scenarios in real life.
Outside of work, I volunteer at church and teach preschool and elementary school kids bible lessons. I have participated in several activities that involve kids such as Vacation Bible School, Operation Christmas Shoebox, and Feed My Starving Children. When I have a chance I like to explore nature, hike some trails, and search for waterfalls.
