Cardiac Sonography
Use ultrasound to image the heart’s structure and function.
Program Details
Cardiac sonography is an in-demand diagnostic imaging specialty. Using ultrasound equipment, cardiac sonographers conduct echocardiograms to obtain images of the heart’s structure and function. While many echocardiograms are performed on adult patients at rest or after exercise, cardiac sonographers also image fetal hearts during pregnancy and conduct echocardiograms during surgical procedures.
The Cardiac Sonography program at PA College is one of three ultrasound programs we offer, including Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Sonography. Learners who already hold an associate or bachelor’s degree, or who will met the degree requirements upon certificate completion, can earn an Academic Certificate in one year. The program prepares students to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Cardiac Sonographer exam.
Academic certificates are available in all three ultrasound specialties at PA College, offering learners the opportunity to become sought-after practitioners with multiple skill sets.
PA College cannot guarantee clinical rotations for students who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine.
