Cardiac Sonography

Cardiac Sonography Associate Degree

Cardiac sonography is an in-demand diagnostic imaging specialty. Using ultrasound equipment, cardiac sonographers conduct echocardiograms to obtain images of the heart’s structure and function. While many echocardiograms are performed on adult patients at rest or after exercise, cardiac sonographers also image fetal hearts during pregnancy and conduct echocardiograms during surgical procedures.

The Cardiac Sonography program at PA College is one of three ultrasound programs we offer, including Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Sonography. Learners can complete one program in two years and earn an associate degree, or continue for a third year to earn an additional academic certificate – offering learners the opportunity to become sought-after practitioners with multiple skill sets. There’s also an academic certificate option for students who already hold an associate or bachelor’s degree. The program prepares students to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Cardiac Sonographer exam.
